Elvira
======
Hints:
------
During multiball, shoot the left AND right ramps to win the jackpot
There's lots I don't know about Elvira -- anyone have detailed info?
BAT lanes also light the lock on the skull passage (actually, this is in
the rules, I just missed it!)
Locking a ball enables the "light "ELVIRA" light on the left ramp ("monster
slide".) Each circuit around the left ramp after that lights one letter
in ELVIRA.
After locking the first ball, in order to start multiball, you must first
re-enable the lock light on the skull passage in spite of what the directions
say (and Elvira's encouragement to immediately "go for the skull!")
You do this by either getting all the JAM targets or all the BAT lanes as
usual.
The Boogie Bonus isn't generally all that tremendous an amount of points,
but you can get it over and over again as long as you don't lose the ball
(if you are in easy mode or have an extra ball, it remains enabled, though).
If the boogie bonus is lit up during multiball, it can really rack up some
points.
Police Force
------------
Putting a criminal in jail lights the lock on the right ramp.
After locking a ball the lock light goes out, BUT the "light police letter"
light comes on for the right ramp. Each circuit around the right ramp after
locking the ball will light one of the "police" letters.
After locking a ball, to lock a second ball you must put another criminal
in jail. That enables the start lock light on the right ramp again. If
you can get the ball up that ramp, multiball starts.
I haven't figured out what the goal is during multiball, or if it is simply
that points are doubled, or whatever -- anyone know???
The right flipper lane lights the "hot sheet" target. If you hit the ball
up the center ramp which drops into the right flipper lane, that will NOT
enable the hot sheet shot. The hot sheet shot only stays enabled for a
limited period of time (not sure how long, though.) The "hot sheet" is
the left hand loop up to the "GUN" lights that puts Machine Gun Croc in jail.
There are five value lights at the top of the game, one of which will be lit
and that is the current "hot sheet" value. What the heck does "hot sheet"
mean, anyway???
Where is the "Top Cop Bullseye"? Getting all the "police" letters enables
that shot, but I'm not sure where it is -- anyone know? It scores 3 million
points when lit.
The four rectangular lights positioned at an angle at the upper left indicate
which criminals are in jail by postion on the playfield. That is, the
leftmost indicates "Sharky", the next over is "Machine Gun Croc", etc.
Putting all four criminals in Jail lights the jackpot on the right ramp.
The jackpot scores 4 million points.
If you put a criminal in Jail, they remain in Jail even after a lost ball
in hard mode.
The Top Cop target is above and to the left of the "GUN" lights -- you can't
see it because it's covered by some other stuff, but it's there. You hit it
via the right loop around the "GUN" lights. The arrow on that lane near the
bottom of the playfield comes on when the extra ball or three million "Top
Cop" shots are enabled.
General stuff
-------------
When you lose a ball, all lights lit are turned off, including lock enabled
lights and such UNLESS you are playing in easy mode or on an extra ball
in either mode.
If the ball is heading toward the side drains, repeatedly hit the "bump"
button (option-1) -- that will often save the ball. Don't hit it too long
or furiously (or hold it down) as that will "Tilt" the machine.
The scoring in both games is somewhat screwed up in Easy mode. There isn't
a bug, it's just that since the lights always remain on after a lost ball,
some shots are inordinately valuable -- for instance, the left ramp in
Elvira and the "handcuff bonus" in Police Force. Police Force is hurt less
by this, but I still recommend playing both games in Hard mode. The game
would have been better served by making "Easy" mode have 5 balls only,
instead of that and leaving lights on.

Bug:
----
I have managed to "hold" the ball so that when I release the flipper
holding the ball, it will just stay there. Flipping the flipper will
not get it back in motion. No Big Deal, but when I "nudge" the
machine to get the ball moving again, the ball mysteriously "SLIPS"
between the flipper and rail, right down to the drain. Watch for this.
During Multiball in Elvira, one of the balls ended up under the MUSIC
BY sign in the lower right. The games still thinks it is in play, so
even after the other ball drains, the machine just sits there... (It also
screws up the view of the board, since the ball at the botton is
closest).
Would'nt it be nice to have some type of setup screen where you
could've selected the options (# of balls, Lights remain on after a ball,
etc)? This IMHO is nicer than just two choices.
