A.P.B.
======

Level skip:

In APB, if you hold down OPT 1 and OPT 2, and run into a donut (or through
the Donut shop) your quota will be filled and you will be returned to
the station and proceed to the next level.

Skip to level 99:

When your quota is met, hold down OPT 1 and OPT 2 when you touch the
Officer Bob parking space. This will warp you to level 99. (The game will
not end, just repeat level 99 with random quotas).

Double Fuel:

On Highway 12 you will find gas pumps right next to each other. Park
directly in the middle of the two pumps and the gas pumps twice as fast.

Other Hints And Tips
====================

Last night I got to Day 12, with the nasty guy COOL HAND DUKE hiding in
DrinkerTown (?), which is along highway 00, (the little two lane jobber
north of the Lone Donut Shop (tm)). He's driving a white van (says
something on top of it, can't remember what). So I promptly ripped
up that road, knowing exactly where the APB bulletin was talking about.

Ahh! There he is, parked on the side. Quickly rear-end him to let him
know I'm after him, and he TAKES OFF - he was moving a pretty good clip,
and I was right behind him. He drives across the parking lot between the
two 'yahoo' bars, and promptly drives into the side of the next building!

HE disappears. I can't stop in time, so I run right into the building. I
go kablam.... thud. My last demerit!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

The only advice I can think to give you is to shoot the poor bastards.
This way you don't have to wait until you see them commit a crime, of
course the down side to this is that you might shoot the by-standers.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Once an APB goes off the top of the screen-- let it go if you can't catch
up. Then drive around for a bit (don't stop!); the APB will usually be
regenerated south of your position and will drive by again for an easy
head-on capture.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

* Between screens, or during animations, if you press nothing, it plays at
regular speed. Press button A and you get basically double speed. Press
button B and you get triple speed. Press both A+B and you get quadruple
speed.

* If you are moving fast and you want to make a sharp turn, release button
B (accelerator) and turn, then press it down again. I had a much better
time moving around when I knew in theory that I could make better turns.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

APB's must be run off the road. Shooting them makes them 'dead' and you don't
get the trumpet sound / text message indicating that they were captured. The
difficulty increases with each level, you have to have the siren down while
you are pounding them with your car. It's often easiest to plan your
approach to the APB and to hit them head-on, rather than getting into a
'tail chase'.

Freddy can be reached by making a left after heading straight up HWY-10
(not at the interchange, though). He should be hanging out by the Tex's Bar.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Freddy can be found in front of the cowboy hotel just to the left of Highway
10. When you start level 3, drive north until you pass the double donut huts
(the little ones with the donuts sliding out), then take the first left road.

Shooting an A.P.B. does _not_ capture the gun only works on the violators;
shooting a litterbug(!) is exactly the same as tapping them with the siren.
Shooting an A.P.B. just makes them dissappear, and you have to hunt them down
again (don't ask me why).

You will know that you have caught the A.P.B. when a little tune plays and
"A.P.B. captured" flashes across the top of the screen. When you ram the
A.P.B., a "Resist meter" shows on the left side of the screen; when the meter
goes to zero, you've got 'em. The easiest way to do it is to get in front of
the crook, stop, turn your car around, and ram him head-on.

I wouldn't recommend "higher acceleration", at least not in the beginning.
It's easy to lose control and smear yourself all over the landscape. B-)
I suspect it'll be helpful in the higher levels, though. Then again, I can
only get to level 10, so what do I know.
